Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg To Tear Down Neighboring Palo Alto Homes
PALO ALTO (KPIX 5) – Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg plans to tear down four homes around his Palo Alto residence and rebuild them to his liking.
Renderings from the project's architects show what the homes would look like. The plan calls for three single-story houses and one two-story house. Zuckerberg's application filed with city planners said that the new properties will take up about 20 percent less space.
Scott Alexander lives two blocks away from the CEO. "Mark's a valued member of the community and he should really be allowed to do whatever he wants," Alexander told KPIX 5. "So the fact that he owns all four of those homes, I think he has every right to do what he wants with them."
Zuckerberg has not made clear what he plans to use the new homes or if he plans to rent or sell them.

Katie Luman said those who live nearby should have some input. "It should be up to the neighbors as well, the people across the street probably bought the house because of what the neighborhood looked like and so now he's just going to come in and change it?" Luman said. "I don't know, it just doesn't seem right."
Zuckerberg bought the homes a few years ago after he learned of a developer's plan to build a house next door, tall enough to see into his master bedroom.
KPIX 5 spoke to one resident who currently rents from Zuckerberg. She didn't want to go on camera and was told not to talk to the media but said she plans on moving out.
