Anti-Violence Squad Serving Search Warrant In Martinez Finds 1 Person Shot, Another Stabbed

MARTINEZ (CBS SF) -- One person was shot and another suffered stab wounds at roughly the same time that law enforcement officials were attempting to serve a search warrant in a home in unincorporated Martinez Tuesday evening.

Contra Costa County's Anti-Violence Support Effort (CASE) team was in the 1300 block of Shell Avenue shortly before 6 p.m. when officers heard a gunshot.

The officers, who were just around the corner from the home, found two people in front of the very home where they were planning to serve a search warrant.

Both people were treated at the scene and then taken to a hospital for further treatment.

Police said the suspect in this incident remains outstanding and they are urging anyone with information to call the Contra Costa County Sheriff 's Office Investigation Division at (925) 313-2600, email tips@so.cccounty.us or call (866) 846-3592 to leave an anonymous voice message.

The CASE team is a collaborative law enforcement effort to reduce violent crimes in Contra Costa County, with a focus on illegal firearms. It is comprised of members of the Contra Costa County Sheriff 's Office, California Department of Justice, California Highway Patrol, Pittsburg Police Department and Walnut Creek Police Department.
