Debris Fire On Tracks Slows BART Trains

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Commuters experienced delays Thursday morning as BART trains were forced to briefly stop near the Glen Park station in San Francisco because of a debris fire on the tracks, fire and BART officials said.

BART officials said shortly before 8 a.m. that East Bay-bound trains were being delayed by at least 10 minutes "because of an equipment problem on a train."

San Francisco fire officials wrote on Twitter minutes later that there was a debris fire on the tracks there and advised people to avoid the area.

Fire officials said at 8:08 a.m. that the fire had been extinguished and crews were clearing the scene.

BART officials said service has resumed through the area with residual delays expected.
