Firefighters Quickly Tame San Jose Recycling Plant Fire

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) – A large trash pile ignited into flames early Monday at a San Jose recycling plant, but was brought under control before it could cause any major damage, authorities said.

San Jose Fire Capt. Mike Van Elgort said was first reported at 4:06 a.m. at the recycling plant located near South 7th Street at East Alma Avenue.

Fortunately, the blaze broke out in a pile of debris surrounded by concrete and stones so it made it easy for firefighters to bring under control.

The fire was under control at 5:25 a.m.

Firefighters were still trying to determine a cause of the blaze.
