Vallejo Mother Severely Burned In May Arson Succumbs To Injuries

VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- A woman hospitalized for months after suffering burns in an arson fire in Vallejo that killed a 5-year-old child has also succumbed to her injuries, police said Friday.

The fatal fire was reported at 9:54 a.m. May 22 in the 800 block of Stella Street. A 5-year-old child was found dead inside.

The child's mother, Lametricias Seilflood, was severely injured with second and third degree burns.

Police believe the fire was set in the back master bedroom where Dayleon and his mother were at the time.

"He used an accelerant and the fire's origin was in the master bedroom," said Vallejo Police Lt. Jeff Bassett.

Seilflood died Wednesday at a Sacramento hospital where she was being treated.

Seilflood was 45.

Police have alleged that Darrylone Shuemake, 53, set the fire intentionally. He was arrested on suspicion of murder May 25 in Richmond.

Shuemake called the Richmond Police Department dispatch center and said he wanted to surrender at around 11:30 a.m. that day.

A Richmond police lieutenant confirmed that the suspect turned himself in at the corner of San Pablo and Barrett avenues and was suicidal. He was taken into custody without incident.
