South San Jose Train Trestle Burns In Fire

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) – Firefighters are battling a rapidly spreading grass fire in South San Jose, according to authorities.

The San Jose Fire Department confirmed they are at a grass fire at Highway 101 and Bailey Road near the Coyote Creek Golf Course.

The fire, named the Bailey Fire, was approximately 100 acres at 5 p.m. and 50 percent contained. It is near the San Jose and Morgan Hill border.

Calfire is assisting San Jose Fire in the fight and providing air support.

There was also a two-alarm fire in East San Jose.

An old railroad trestle ignited at around 3:30 p.m., sending thick black smoke pouring into the air.

The tracks, near Julian and Wooster avenues, are no longer in use.

There is an apartment complex nearby, but it was not threatened. By around 5 p.m.,  fire
