Curry Mouthguard Fetches $3,190 At Auction
OAKLAND (CBS SF) – A mouthguard once used by Golden State star Steph Curry and scooped up by a fan sold for more than $3,100 at a weekend auction.
Southern California-based auction house SCP Auctions said the mouthguard – which has Curry's name on it – was found by a fan under the Warriors bench after a game during the 2015-2016 season.
Some had speculated it was the mouthguard Curry had flung into the crowd in disgust during a Warriors loss to Cleveland in Game 6 of the NBA Finals. That action resulted in the first game ejection of his career.
SCP Auctions had opened bidding on the mouthguard at $1,500.
It's not the first mouthguard to be put up for auction by SCP. The Laguna Niguel sports memorabilia company auctioned off Muhammad Ali's mouthpiece from his final bout for $6,700 in 2013.
