Caught On Video: Suspects Use Stun Gun, Assault, Rob San Francisco Taxi Driver

SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) -- San Francisco police have released video of a violent robbery involving four suspects and a taxi cab driver.

It happened on August 2.

In the video, the taxi driver is blurred. He did not want to be shown or talk to the media.

Clearly visible is one of the suspects sitting in the front seat.

Investigators say the driver picked up four people at Market and Mason streets around 4:30 a.m.

The suspects told the driver to take them to Texas and 25th streets in the Bayview neighborhood.

When the suspects got out, on of them used a stun gun to attack the driver.

In the video, the driver jumps back but another suspect pulls him out of the cab.

The suspects took his wallet containing credit cards and cash. Thankfully, the driver escaped with his life.

Officer Grace Gatpandan says the victim is still recovering at home.

"We were able to recover the cab," said Gatpandan. "The suspects are still outstanding: two black females and two black males."

Two of the suspects are seen clearly on the video. Investigators hope releasing the footage will help solve the crime.
