Uber Launches Prepaid Bulk Ride Plan In San Francisco

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Ride sharing giant Uber is testing out a service where you can lock in the price of your commute for as many as 20 rides in the month of September in San Francisco no matter the time or day or location.

Called 'Uber Plus' the new pricing plan is taking its lead from the popular loyalty-building Amazon subscription model.

The beta plan is being rolled out for the month of September in six U.S. cities -- San Francisco, Seattle, San Diego, Miami, Boston, and Washington D.C. the rates in each city varies.

In San Francisco, for example, an Uber user can pay $20 and for their next 20 rides pay no more than $2 for an Uber Pool ride or $7 for each UberX trip.

Uber users in San Diego would pay $20 for 20 trips at $3 for Uber Pool and $6 for UberX. Meanwhile in Miami for $30 Uber users can get 20 UberX rides for just $5 a piece.
