ANTIOCH (CBS SF) — Police were looking for a suspect who painted a racial slur, a swastika and threw Molotov cocktails at a home in Antioch early Wednesday morning.

A fire was reported at 3:12 a.m. in the 5100 block of McCormick Court, according to police.

A family of 7 was inside the home with children whose ages ranged from 4 to 14.

The three adults and four young children escaped unharmed through a back door. The family used a fire extinguisher to put out some of the flames before the fire department arrived to the home on McCormick Court.

The Molotov cocktails caught the roof and some bushes on fire. The fire did little damage to the home and no one was injured.

“My 28 year old daughter woke me up and said the house is on fire,” resident Roshon Williams said.

Williams says her security cameras show who’s behind the racist vandalism, but says she doesn’t recognize the person

The incident is under investigation as arson and a hate crime.
