Small Quake Rattles San Jose Residents

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) – A small quake rattled through the Alum rock area in south San Jose early Wednesday, but caused no damage, authorities said.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake struck at 8:26 a.m. and was centered near Mount Hamilton, 7.5 miles east-southeast of Alum Rock and 10.6 miles east of San Jose.

The quake was along the Calaveras Fault, which last produced a notable earthquake in 2007 when a 5.4-magnitude temblor hit the Alum Rock area.

There was no immediate word of any damage from the small; quake that was felt in Morgan Hill and San Jose.
