KCBS_740

WASHINGTON (KCBS) – Sen. Dianne Feinstein has been named ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Feinstein the first woman to be named to that post, in which she'll lead the way for Democrats scrutinizing the President-elect Donald Trump's picks for the U.S. Supreme Court.

Previously, Feinstein served as vice-chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee.

In a statement, the senior senator from California said she will be willing to hear out Trump when he's willing to support responsible policies and nominees.

But she points out, the committee's job is to protect the Constitution and to carefully consider potential policies, senior officials and judges.
