Sabra Recalls Hummus Dips Over Possible Listeria Contamination

KCBS_740SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- A popular brand of hummus has issued a recall after listeria was found in the manufacturing facility.

Sabra is voluntarily recalling some of its hummus products, recommending consumers to dispose of any hummus with a "Best Before" date up through Jan. 23, 2017.

The company says the move is being done out of an "abundance of caution" as listeria was not found in any finished products.

The symptoms of listeria infection can include fever, muscle aches, diarrhea and, in more serious cases, convulsions. It is particularly dangerous for pregnant women, who can suffer premature births or miscarriages due to an infection during the pregnancy.

A full list of products included in the recall is available on Sabra's site.
