Rose Pak's Body Remains In Mortuary Amid Family Dispute
SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) – A woman who was a political powerhouse in San Francisco is now at the center of a bizarre family feud.
Following the funeral of Chinatown community leader Rose Pak in September, her body was supposed to be cremated and interred, but KPIX 5 has learned her remains are in limbo.
Pak's body is sitting inside the Green Street mortuary in North Beach because of a family dispute.
KPIX 5's sources did not want to elaborate on the fight. But San Francisco Magazine, which broke the story, reports one of Rosqe's sisters, Joanna Pak Kish "...had Pak's body whisked away from the crematorium at Cypress Lawn."
Kish then arranged to have Rose's body brought back from the cemetery and ordered an autopsy against the wishes of her other sister, Theresa Wang, the magazine reports.
Byron Sun, Kish's attorney, would not comment except to say a hearing in probate court will provide more details.
