Man Walking On Freeway Hit By 3 Vehicles In Fatal Collision In Pleasant Hill

PLEASANT HILL (CBS SF) -- A man fatally struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run on northbound Interstate Highway 680 in Pleasant Hill early this morning has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner's office as 19-year-old Antioch resident Dyshon Douglas.

California Highway Patrol officers initially responded to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian around 4:40 a.m. on northbound Highway 680 just south of Monument Boulevard.

Officers determined the pedestrian, later identified as Douglas, had been standing in the lanes of the highway when a white-colored sedan, possibly an Acura Integra, struck him and continued north without stopping, according to the CHP.

Two other vehicles, an Audi SUV driven by a 29-year-old Oakley man and a Toyota Corolla driven by a 22-year-old Concord woman, also struck him but stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators, CHP officials said.

Douglas was pronounced dead at the scene. According to his Facebook page, he worked at McDonald's and graduated from Ygnacio Valley High School in 2015.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information about the whereabouts of the hit-and-run vehicle is asked to contact CHP Officer Mitchell at (925) 646-4980.

The death was the second on northbound Highway 680 early this morning. At about 3:05 a.m., 33-year-old San Jose resident Matthew Tia died in a crash reported between a sedan and big-rig near Stoneridge Drive in Pleasanton.
