California coach Mike Montgomery said Tuesday there was no excuse for him shoving his star player during a game and that the action was completely out of character for him.

Cal Self-Imposes Sanctions On Men’s Hoops Team

The Cal men’s basketball team has self-imposed sanctions on the program for violating rules about phone calls to recruits. The school released a statement Saturday saying officials quickly reported the infractions to the NCAA and Pac-10 as soon as they were discovered and sanctioned the individuals involved.
