East Palo Alto officials have appointed Police Capt. Federico Rocha as the city’s new interim chief, following the announcement of the retirement of Police Chief Ron Davis.
The streets of East Palo Alto were a little quieter Thursday night; police officers were enforcing a long-standing curfew that prohibits anyone under the age of 18 from being in a public space between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. It’s been on the books since 1995, but hasn’t been strictly enforced because of limited police resources.
Police departments around the country have not done enough to combat racial profiling in the last decade, East Palo Alto Police Chief Ronald Davis said Tuesday.
License plate readers will be mounted on two East Palo Alto police cars and will be able to scan as the cars move, gathering license plate data, up to 360 degrees.
