The Big Ten and Pac-12 are strengthening their postseason ties with a pair of matchups in California bowl games. San Diego’s Holiday Bowl and San Francisco’s Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl announced 6-year agreements for teams from each conference to play each other starting in 2014.
The California Golden Bears couldn’t hold onto the football or protect their quarterback in a 21-10 loss to Texas in the Holiday Bowl on Wednesday night.
Cal (7-5) split its first eight games, leaving its bowl status in doubt, but wins in three of its final four contests – the only loss coming by a 31-28 score at then-No. 8 Stanford on Nov. 19 – earned it a Holiday Bowl berth.
