Former San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom was sworn in Monday afternoon as California’s new Lt. Governor paving the way for City Administrator Ed Lee to become interim mayor for the next 12 months.
Four new members of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors will take the oath of office Saturday including; Malia Cohen, Scott Wiener, Jane Kim and Mark Farrell.
One of the city’s most powerful lobbying groups has thrown its weight behind appointing City Administrator Ed Lee to serve as interim mayor.
Newsom has made clear that he didn’t want the interim mayor to be anyone who would run for election in November.
