Japan Earthquake and Tsunami
Hundreds of U.S. sailors who took part in rescue efforts following Japan’s earthquake and tsunami say they were exposed to dangerous levels of radiation and are bringing a class-action lawsuit against Tokyo Electric Power Company.
The Lady Washington has historical connections as it was the first U.S.-flagged vessel to visit the Japanese mainland back in 1791.
Emergency management officials in California are alarmed over $1 million in proposed federal funding cuts to a tsunami alert system.
They visited Rosa Parks Elementary School, which helped raise $7,000 for relief efforts following last March’s earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
