The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved its first-ever resolution to require companies and nonprofits with county contracts to pay a living wage as of July 1.
With the framework close to being finished, Santa Clara County is moving forward with work on a living-wage ordinance, with a first step due in June.
On a first reading of the proposal Tuesday night, the Richmond City Council voted to hike the minimum wage to $12.30 an hour.
Some changes were expected from the San Jose City Council Tuesday regarding its living wage ordinance. The idea was to simplify how it was applied to airlines and businesses operating at Mineta San Jose International Airport – a move designed to attract more flights to the facility.
