The City of Vallejo has $2.5 million to put toward more officers on the streets, but those funds will soon be diverted to repaving because the city can’t find qualified candidates to take the jobs.
Officials said they remain on schedule to reopen Doyle Drive at 5 a.m. on Monday morning.
Drivers can expect a much smoother ride on some of San Jose’s bumpiest roads now that the city council has given the thumbs-up to a limited amount of funding for priority road repair.
The Devil’s Slide tunnel project is expected to mark a milestone on Thursday as paving nears completion. The tunnel is set to open to traffic later this year.
