A stray piece of debris on southbound Interstate Highway 880 in Oakland flattened the tires of about a dozen cars early Tuesday morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
Dozens of Concord residents came outside Sunday morning to find that their car tires had been flattened, Concord police said.
A Pittsburg man was arrested and two people were injured during a four-alarm fire at a tire warehouse in Antioch on Tuesday, a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District spokesman said.
The tires on more than 50 vehicles were slashed overnight in Palo Alto, but no one seems to have seen or heard anything while the vandalism was taking place, police said Monday.
Berkeley police said as many as 74 vehicles had their tires damaged in what appears to be a slashing spree Tuesday night or Wednesday morning in South Berkeley and in parts of Oakland.
Vandals slashed the tires on about 50 vehicles on a 17-block stretch of California Street, and several other nearby streets, in Berkeley early Wednesday morning.
