The National Weather Service reports that a funnel cloud was spotted in eastern Contra Costa County Wednesday afternoon during a thunderstorm that triggered tornado warnings for Sacramento and other central California counties.
The National Weather Service said no damage has been reported after the tornado was spotted in a rural area about 5 miles north of Yuba City around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Officials say tornadoes that touched down in a rural area of Northern California destroyed hundreds of acres of almond orchards.
The National Weather Service along with local police agencies reported several tornadoes on Wednesday evening, but there was no immediate word of any significant damage or injuries.
A tornado destroyed a wood and corrugated metal shed at a business in Santa Rosa Friday morning, while hail was reported in parts of East Bay Friday night.
