Gastro pubs offer fine dining with a casual vibe – a perfect fit for California. So it’s no surprise that the Bay Area boasts a bevy of exceptional spots to find brews and brule on the same menu.

Eye on the Bay’s Liam Mayclem explored the Bay Area Pub scene to see who is serving up gourmet food along side artisan beers. Here are some of his favorites:

The Tipsy Pig

This relatively new pub will make you feel right at home. Creative cocktails and a wealth of beer options pair up nicely with a the comfortable cuisine. Tipsy sliders and seared scallops are a good place to start.

Monks Kettle

With more than 200 beers on the menu, Monks Kettle is serious about its love of brews. Try a Belgian style beer while you sample succulent offerings like baked goat cheese or the brined pork chops. You’ll walk out with a happy tummy.

Wood Tavern

On the Oakland-Berkeley border, this family-run local favorite serves upscale comfort food. The pork belly and seafood stew are hard to resist.

Follow your nose to this casual pub that takes equal pride in both the drinks and the dining. Sidebar sources a wide selection of local ingredients – you can even order your drink made with local liquor. The Wednesday goat cheese souffle special is not to be missed.
