Add a garnish of sliced avocado and a sprig of fresh cilantro and we're talking some pretty fine eats to kick-start your day. The Northside Café is a great place to enjoy a calm breakfast before the hurley-burley of the day sets in, and its breakfast wrap is just the thing to start your day off right. For $3.99, you get a more than generous serving of scrambled eggs, excellent cheddar cheese and house potatoes smothered in an artful salsa and all wrapped up in a huge flour tortilla. Berkeley's The Sunny Side Cafe is a charming little eatery that serves a ginormous breakfast burrito. Come in with an appetite because you can get two scrambled eggs with salsa, homefries and vegetarian black beans all wrapped up in a tomato tortilla. At first glance, this cafe looks like a dinky little hole in the wall, but there is upstairs seating that overlooks the street as well outdoor seating, perfect for a warm day. The service is cheerful and the breakfast burrito will leave you pretty happy as well.

If you're looking for a large breakfast on the cheap, Ann's Kitchen is the way to go. It is slightly off campus so there aren't quite as many students crowding into this spot for the breakfast rush. Ann's hearty breakfast burrito is guaranteed to satisfy even the most robust trencherman, particularly if you love your spuds, because there are a ton of spuds to help the eggs, ham, onion, bell peppers, cheese and salsa find their way to your mouth. For only $4.80, this is a steal of a deal.

Conveniently located in downtown Oakland near the Bart station, this is a good place to grab breakfast, in particular, its "ultimate" breakfast burrito. Chock full of eggs, cheese and your choice of bacon, sausage or chorizo, at $5.99, this makes for a great breakfast that will easily keep you going until lunch time. Bette's serves a sort of a do-it-yourself breakfast burrito including scrambled eggs with cheese and salsa, smoky black beans, house-made chorizo and cilantro that you pile high in a huge flour tortilla for $10.95. Now, if that doesn't suit your fancy, try its exceptional huevos rancheros with sunnyside up eggs with salsa and melted cheese on a flour tortilla with those smoky black beans and sour cream for only $9.25. Either choice is sure to please.
