Established in 1852, Ghirardelli chocolates is as “San Francisco” as the 49’ers and the Golden Gate Bridge. Though there are Ghirardelli stores on each coast, the flagship store here in SF still brings crowds from all over the world. The annual Ghirardelli Chocolate Festival is held at Ghirardelli Square every September and many gather here to sample all things chocolate, especially the World Famous Hot Fudge Sundae.

    Tcho chocolate is made in San Francisco, entirely from free-trade beans. That definitely deserves mention.

    I enjoy all of the great chocolates in San Francisco, and Ghirardelli has been a part of my daily diet for the past 20 years.

    Having said that, how can you put Ghirardelli above TCHO?

    You did get my other two favorites that I visit each week, CocaBella and Recchiuti.
