Who doesn’t love a bargain? Coupons, markdowns, the thrill of the hunt; it kills me to pay full price for anything, especially anything for my children. Mine outgrow stuff so quickly. Sometimes even before the tags can be clipped. So as much as I can, I shop resale and secondhand shops for their clothes, books, and toys. Here is the best children’s re-sale shopping found in the South Bay:

Consignment shopping is a scaling trend, especially for baby and children’s items. Many local groups and organizations organize seasonal sales, which offers a unique venue for both sellers and shoppers. They set up shop for a weekend or a few days, usually in the spring and fall. These are the top three must-see in our area:

Outrageous Outgrowns holds their semi-annual sales in April and October. Tauted the biggest children’s resale event in the Bay Area, it has been voted a Bay Area Family Favorite year after year: Outrageous Outgrowns

Gemini Crickets Parents of Multiples Club of Silicon Valley calls their twice yearly events “garage sales”. Having twins or multiples means collecting tons of STUFF. This is where parents go to unload outgrown clothing, cribs, nursing pillows, high chairs, ride-on toys, puzzles, books, shopping cart covers, and just about anything else you can think of. This event is free and open to the public: Gemini Crickets

The Parents Club of Palo Alto and Menlo Park (PAMP) Used Toy and Clothing Sale is bigger than any garage sale in the area. Hundreds of great bargains on kids’ stuff! Check their site for dates and locations: Parents Club of Palo Alto and Menlo Park

Looking for a place to shop year-round?

Kid to Kid

2666 East Homestead Road
Santa Clara, CA 95051

Kid to Kid

The newest children’s resale shop in my area is the nationally franchised, but locally-owned Kid-to-Kid. Conveniently located across the street from the Santa Clara City Library and Central Park, it’s easy to pop in after a Friday morning story time or a play date in the park.

The Kidz Shoppe

14454 Union Ave.
San Jose, CA 95124
(408) 879-0989
Kidz Shoppe

Another favorite is the aptly named The Kidz Shoppe in San Jose. It tends to specialize in more boutique items like smocked dresses and vintage Radio Flyer wagons, so it’s definitely the place to find more unique items.

540 S Bascom Ave.
San Jose, CA 95128
(408) 998-1867

Ubyan offers a large selection of both new and used baby and kids’ clothing, shoes, toys, gear, and furniture.
