DEFEND YOUR RIDE: Girish In The Sunny Presidio

Q: Welcome to Defend Your Ride San Francisco. What can you tell us about yourself?

A: My name is Girish. I live and work in San Francisco. I've been here for about three years now. I've lived here since I've been in San Francisco and it's been great. This area is great because you feel like you're not in the city, yet the conveniences and thrills of the city are right next door.

Q: Great, and great car, by the way. What kind is it? Tell us about it.

A: It's a Nissan Altima 2006 Special Edition, kind of a champagne color. I bought it firsthand and it's been great to have. Nowadays I usually only use it only occasionally during weekends for errands or day trips since I work downtown and as we all know, parking is such a pain in the city. It is best to take public transportation. I've really enjoyed having this car. I mean, it doesn't have all the modern conveniences as brand new cars do, but it does its job.

Q: You mentioned nowadays you use it only occasionally. Did you use it more often before and if so when?

A: When I lived in New Mexico. See, I went to school in New Mexico, then worked there for a while after I graduated. I used it more on a daily basis.

Q: I see, so when you're not using your car now, where do you keep it?

A: See, that is another wonderful thing about living here in the Presidio. There is ample parking! Here in the presidio, we get a free parking space. So when I'm not using my car, I park it in my free parking space.

Q: That's great! What's your best memory in this car?

A: I don't know if I can divulge that. Just kidding! Well I'm not sure if this is the best, but it is the most impressionable memory I have with this car, which was driving it from New Mexico here to San Francisco. Boy was that a long trip! I did it in two days. I packed up 10 years of my life in this car and drove it out to San Francisco. It was a long drive. That was definitely a time I was very thankful to have this car. Those are the types of experiences you sort of bond with your car.

Q: What is your car's main use?

A: I usually listen to music, mostly Spanish music.

Q: How fun! So can you tell me what your next car will ideally be?

A: Ideally I'd like an Audi. They are just seamless. The driving experience is fabulous and there isn't too much fluff.
