Eye on the Bay’s Brian Hackney went in search of some free samples and turned up this list of the most popular FREE food (and drink) factory tours in the Bay Area.

Your favorite beans from watermelon to popcorn are concoted in this Fairfiled facility. The variety of colors and flavors you’ll see and taste would make Willy Wonka proud. Free tours of the factory are offered year-round from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s almost impossible to leave without a few “Belly Flops,” the bulk bags of misfit beans that didn’t make the cut.

Go behinds the scenes of one of California’s few artisinal chocolate factories. Feast your eyes on rich ingredients used to create these small-batch treats. Don’t worry, you’ll get your share of free samples. The factory is moving from Emeryville, and tours will soon be available in the new flagship location San Francisco’s Westfield Center.

You’ll likely need a reservation for this popular peek at San Francisco’s most renowned local brewery. You probably want the number for a cab company as well. There are free samples in the tasting room after the tour.

Believe it or not, Bud isn’t just a St. Louis product. Chances are, when you reach for the “King of Beers” it comes from this Fairfield plant. Tours run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and yes, there are free samples.
