California is peppered with premiere food growing regions. Much of that fresh bounty is readily available to here in the Bay Area. Perhaps the most fun way to explore fresh produce options is at a local farmers market. To find one near you, check out our list divided by county. But if you don’t want to spend your weekend sifting through the stands at a local fair, or spending big money at chains like Whole Foods and Mollie Stone’s, there are some other ways to make sure you are getting the most fresh fruits and veggies. Eye on the Bay’s Liam Mayclem explored some of the unique farms and shops to find the best fresh local produce.

The hard work of millions of tiny employees is what has created a buzz about this Napa County farm. Producers say the varied flavors in their honey come from the different pollens picked up by the bees. The Marshall family placed hives all over the Bay Area to capture the distinctive tastes of a number of towns. You can become a beekeeper for a day and try some samples at their American Canyon tasting room.
