Alameda Gang Sweep Nets Dozens
There have been 48 arrests as part of a massive gang member sweep in Alameda County.
The mission, known as "Operation Gangbusters," was a coordinated sweep in seven cities, with 21 agencies and 154 officers, aimed at curbing gang violence.
Director of Adult Parole Operations for the state of California, Robert Ambroselli, says the sweep yielded 48 total arrests, 37 on parole, 11 on probation, two firearms, 106 marijuana plants, two machete's and two parolees at large. Click to Listen

"It's the sheriff's department, the police department, and our partners that helped pick those people, so in essence, all of the people that we contacted today are the serious people that needed to be contacted
District Attorney for Alameda County, Nancy O'Mally, says those arrested will stay behind bars because many of them now have no-bail warrants.
"What is critical, is that we in law enforcement work together to leverage our resources to be more efficient and more effective with the diminished resources as time goes on, to continue to keep our streets safe," said O'Mally.
The largest number of arrests came in East Oakland. Arrests were also made in communities along the 880 corridor, including Hayward, Union City and Newark.
