Residents Worried by Possible San Jose Annexation

CAMPBELL, Calif. (AP) _ Some residents of an unincorporated Santa Clara County community are speaking out against the possibility that they could be annexed by San Jose.

About 60 residents of the Cambrian 36 area rallied before a community meeting about the annexation on Wednesday night. They say they worry about the quality of public safety services if they are taken over by San Jose.

San Jose is under a court order to annex unincorporated parts of the county.

City Planning Director Joe Horwedel says the annexation of Cambrian 36 would create a cleaner boundary between San Jose and the neighboring city of Campbell.

The San Jose Planning Commission is expected to take the issue before the City Council this fall.
