Deadly Shooting in Vallejo

VALLEJO (KCBS) --Officers are investigating a shooting incident that left one man dead in the backyard of a Vallejo home Sunday afternoon.

Police responded to a 12:05 p.m. report of several shots being fired around the 300 block of Springs Road, Vallejo police said.

The first arriving officer found a 42-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. Fire and medical personnel were unsuccessful at treating the man, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The suspected shooter is described as a man in his 20s who is 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, with a medium build, and wearing a white shirt and blue jeans. He was last seen getting into a passenger seat of a compact silver or white car, which may be a Honda.

The car was seen going eastbound on Springs Road toward Tuolumne Street .

Police said this is the 11th homicide in Vallejo in 2010.
