Vallejo Murder Suspect Surrenders; Daughter OK

VALLEJO (BCN) - The hunt for a man suspected of fatally shooting a young woman in Vallejo Wednesday night and fleeing the scene with his 4-year-old daughter was called off Thursday evening after the man turned himself in, police said.

Jonas Peacock, 28, was arrested on a warrant in connection with the homicide after he turned himself in at the Vallejo Police Department at about 5:45 p.m.

Wednesday night, officers found 22-year-old Ashley Manigault dead of a gunshot wound to the head in a home in the first block of Ninth Street, police said.

Occupants of the home were questioned and police identified Peacock as a suspect, Lt. Ken Weaver said Thursday.

Peacock fled the scene with his daughter, Nyary Peacock, who was located by police Thursday unharmed and is staying with family members in Vallejo, police said.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Vallejo police detectives Matt Mustard or Ted Postolaki at (800) 488-9383.

The shooting is the city's 14th homicide this year.
