Phil Matier: UC Berkeley's $20 Million Museum Renovation
(KCBS) - Soon after a student fee increase was approved by UC Regents, UC Berkeley has pledged around $20 million for a museum renovation.
KCBS and Chronicle Insider Phil Matier said the campus museum on Bancroft Avenue is a $96 million project, and they don't have enough, so the question is where do they get the money.
The answers are simple, but as complex as the state budget problems, Matier said.

They decided to build a new museum when they had money, and now they're coming up short, Matier said. They have to scramble for the money, but they're committed to finding it, he added.
The money doesn't come from the same pot as student fees, Matier said.
