Run Ed Run Campaign May Become Reality on Monday

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— The answer to the most frequently asked question in San Francisco politics will be answered on Monday. That's when the city's Interim Mayor, Ed Lee, will decide if he'll run for mayor in November's election.

"I plan to make up my mind this weekend," Lee said in an interview on Thursday.

KCBS' Barbara Taylor Reports:

Lee said he'll have a long talk with his family before he makes his decision and that he's happy with the job he's done and feels he's accomplished a lot.

"I've been in government for 22 years. What I do is focus on what the issue is and I try to deliver the best I can. I can only be Ed Lee. I'm still not even comfortable with the title, mayor," said Lee, seven months after being named to the job.

The mayor also took pains to describe himself as a nuts and bolts Bureaucrat and not a politician.

The deadline to file to run is next Friday, August 12th.
