HAYWARD (KCBS) – Hayward police were investigating a double shooting on Sunday morning in which a man was killed and his wife was seriously injured in front of their home.

Hayward police Lieutenant Roger Keener said they were called to the home on the 100 block of Saint Andrews Street shortly before 8 a.m. on a report of shots fired.

Officers said that when they arrived, they found a 65-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His wife, a 59-year-old, was also shot, sustaining serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

The suspect or suspects fled the scene before police arrived. Keener said it is still unclear exactly what prompted the shooting.
