Hundreds Of San Francisco City Workers Protest Possible Cuts
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A demonstration by hundreds of city workers and their supporters at San Francisco's City Hall came to a peaceful end Monday night, an organizer said.
Members of the Service Employees International Union 1021 gathered around 5:30 p.m. to oppose potential service cuts and call for business tax reform, union spokesman Carlos Rivera said.
Participants came with sleeping bags, prepared to stay all night, but left without incident about two hours later when told to by the San Francisco County Sheriff's Department, Rivera said.

"We were disappointed that we weren't allowed to stay," Rivera said but added that he felt the demonstration was a success.
Organizers delivered a letter to Mayor Ed Lee's office asking him to stand with city workers and "close the loopholes on big banks and corporations that have not been paying their fair share," Rivera said.
