Teen Shot, Killed In San Jose Identified As 17-Year-Old

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A teen shot and killed in San Jose on Tuesday night has been identified as 17-year-old Leonel Farias, police said Wednesday.

Farias, a San Jose resident, was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound in the 900 block of Owsley Avenue near Rocketship Mosaic Elementary School around 6:20 p.m., police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police said the shooting appears to be gang-related.

KCBS' Mike Colgan Reports:

No arrests had been made as of this morning and investigators are working to establish the circumstances and motive leading to the fatal shooting.

Leonel's death marks the 19th homicide in San Jose in 2012, police said.
