Man Claims Woman Stole $25K In Jewelry From Homeless Shelter

PALO ALTO (CBS/AP) -- A man who lives in a Palo Alto homeless center said a woman stole his jewelry worth $25,000, including a collector's edition Rolex watch.

The Opportunity Center resident told Palo Alto police the woman took the jewelry from his room while he slept.

The man told police he was returning to the homeless and at-risk nonprofit center early Friday when the encountered the woman outside.

He allowed her to wait in his room until her friends living in the center returned.

The man said he fell asleep at around 4 a.m. and, when he woke up about noon, the woman and his jewelry were gone.

The jewelry included gold chains, pendants and the Rolex.
