Fresno State Freshman Dies After Drinking At Frat House Party

FRESNO (CBS/AP) -- Police were trying to determine who provided alcohol to a California State University, Fresno fraternity pledge who died after a party at the fraternity house.

The Fresno County Coroner's Office planned to conduct an autopsy on 18-year-old Philip Dhanens' body on Tuesday.

Authorities say Dhanens, a freshman, died over the weekend after drinking at a party at Theta Chi. Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer told the Fresno Bee investigators also want to know what was said to Dhanens and other pledges before they drank and whether any were forced to drink as part of a hazing.

The national Theta Chi office said in a statement that it is cooperating with authorities to determine what happened. It has suspended the Fresno State chapter.
