Missing Walnut Creek Teen Found; Mother May Face Charges

WALNUT CREEK (CBS SF) -- A teenage girl reported missing in Walnut Creek in August was found Tuesday, and her mother may face charges of helping her hide, police said.

Larissa Huntsman had last been seen leaving Las Lomas High School around 1 p.m. on Aug. 24.

She was found hiding out at an unidentified Concord residence, police said. According to a Walnut Creek Police Sgt. Mike McLaughlin, Huntsman was voluntarily missing with the knowledge and assistance of her biological, non-custodial mother, Laura Huntsman.

Police have referred the case to the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office and it is possible charges will be filed against Larissa's mother.

Editor's note: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated the missing girl was found with her mother. Police only said the missing girl had been hiding with the assistance of her mother.
