OAKLAND (CBS SF) – Singer Trey Songz stopped by an East Oakland homeless shelter Friday afternoon. Songz lent his celebrity to help out the local community hours before his "Chapter V" World Tour at the Oracle Arena in Oakland. Also on the bill is R&B songstress Elle Varner and Miguel.

Songz, known for his hit 2010 song "Say Aah," served lunch at the East Oakland Community Project at 7515 International Blvd., a shelter staff said.

Songz also sent out a Thanksgiving tweet with a message of helping those less fortunate.

The 125-bed shelter, which provides resources for veterans, those afflicted with HIV/AIDS along with homeless families, provides an individually served lunch, according to the shelter.

"Never Again" is the latest single off of Trey Songz newest album, "Chapter V."
