(KCBS) – KCBS Entertainment Editor Jan Wahl reviews Henry Jaglom’s “Just 45 Minutes From Broadway” starring Tanna Frederick and Judd Nelson.

KCBS Entertainment Reporter Jan Wahl:

So many good movies to see right now: Lincoln, Life of Pi, Hitchcock, Silver Linings Playbook to name a few. These are big screen experiences. This new film by Henry Jaglom is a tribute to an acting family, dramatic both on and off the stage. People who are inside the acting profession will find more to connect with, and will enjoy it on a personal level. The rest may wait until a small screen release.

Jaglom uses improv, melodrama, high emotion and low comedy, with a starring role by Tanna Frederick. Unfortunately, she is not a likeable anchor to this story of family sensitivities and pressure, a different actress would have helped. Judd Nelson is a sense of reality in the chaos as a visiting civilian to this world of actors. Jaglom adds some wonderful classic showbiz tunes.

Two hats.

See Right Now: Lincoln, Skyfall, A Royal Affair, Chasing Ice, The Sessions, Anna Karenina, Silver Linings Playbook, and Argo and Hitchcock.

Home Viewing/DVD: Sparkle, Men in Black 3, Bernie, Brave, The Campaign, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
