San Jose Officers Responding To Crash Find Slain Teen

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- Police are investigating the death of a teen in South San Jose Tuesday afternoon.

Officers were called to the 1500 block of Fairhaven Drive at 3:20 p.m. on reports of a traffic collision.

But when they arrived, police found an 18-year-old that suffered a fatal wound to the neck near a white pickup truck. Earlier reports said the boy suffered at least one gunshot wound.

Investigators said the teen either stumbled out of the pickup truck or was ejected from the vehicle.

No suspects have been identified in the shooting. Neighbors told CBS 5 they heard popping noises and then a car speeding away at the time of the incident.

Tuesday's incident is the city's 44th homicide of the year, police said. The victim's name has not been released.
