SAN FRANCISCO (CBS) — Thousands of Bay Area residents came out for San Francisco’s 162nd annual Saint Patrick’s Day parade to honor Irish culture, poetry, music, and lots of green.

This year’s parade was held a day early, kicking off an entire weekend of pub crawling and festivities.

The official parade route began at 2nd and Market Street, near St. Patrick’s Church and ended at Civic Center Plaza.
