SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – San Francisco residents who live steps away from Pier 27 are not happy about plans for a 9,000-seat event venue they say will add to the already noisy maritime activities along the waterfront.
The ships and boats are one thing, but neighbors in Telegraph Hill say 40 nights of concerts is going too far, when it comes to the events surrounding the upcoming America’s Cup yacht race.
The residents claim the noise will simply be unbearable.
“I’m very upset that a boat race has been turned into a concert series,” said one woman, during a community meeting Thursday evening with America’s Cup organizers about the summer concert series scheduled to take place at the America’s Cup Pavilion at Piers 27-29.
Organizers revealed that they were planning weeks of outdoors concerns, and instead of a 4,000 seat amphitheater, it was now hoping to create a venue that would hold as many as 9,000 people.
