Ex-Boyfriend Suspected In Fatal Stabbing Of San Jose Woman

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- Police have identified the woman fatally stabbed Friday afternoon in San Jose as 29-year-old San Jose resident Sandra Cruzes-Gonsalez and are searching for her ex-boyfriend Juan Ramirez in connection with the homicide.

At about 2:37 p.m., officers received a report of a person stabbed in the 900 block of North First Street, just east of the County Government Center at 70 W. Hedding St., police spokesman Sgt. Jason Dwyer said.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers located the victim lying in the parking lot of her apartment complex suffering from multiple stab wounds, police said.

Cruzes-Gonsalez was transported to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center via ambulance, where she was pronounced deceased at 3:15 p.m.,according to police.

The preliminary police investigation into the homicide has revealed that the suspect is 25-year-old San Jose resident Juan Ramirez.

According to police, he confronted Cruzes-Gonsalez in her apartment parking lot.

The two subjects exchanged words and then the suspect stabbed the victim multiple times, police said.

The suspect then fled on foot into the neighborhood, just to the east of the crime scene, police said

Officers responded to the scene and searched the neighborhood for several hours but did not locate the suspect.

Homicide detectives said that Ramirez may be attempting to flee to Mexico and is possibly driving a dark green, 1996 Toyota T-100 pickup truck.

Detectives believe the homicide was domestic violence related and said the victim and suspect dated about two years ago.

The victim had an active restraining order against the suspect at the time of the homicide, according to police.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect may be eligible for a cash reward, police said.

This is the city's 10th homicide of 2013, according to police.
