Man Climbing Overpass Fence Briefly Shut I-80 In Vallejo

VALLEJO (CBS SF) - Authorities have reopened westbound Interstate Highway 80 in Vallejo, where a man had shut down traffic by climbing over a fence on a freeway overpass.

The incident was reported at 1:07 p.m. at the Georgia Street overcrossing.

Vallejo police Sgt. Herman Robinson said the man climbed over the fence on the overpass and was sitting on a freeway sign over the No. 3 westbound lane.

The California Highway Patrol closed westbound I-80 at Georgia Street, and firefighters and medics were standing by. Negotiators were called in to speak with the man, Robinson said.
